Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to Hartlip School

Tracey Jerome, Headteacher

I was appointed as Headteacher at Hartlip School in April 2013. I am proud to lead a committed and hardworking staff who work tirelessly to deliver good if not outstanding teaching and learning on a daily basis. We believe that every day is a learning day and together we all learn, in a safe, trusting environment, allowing us to make mistakes and learn from them.

The school is led and challenged by a highly committed, experienced and dedicated Governing Body. They ensure standards are high and set the strategic direction of the school on a termly basis. Robust review and challenge ensures that the school never stands still and is always forward moving.

The Trustees of the Mary Gibbon Charity meet regularly to hear about the school and consider how to financially support the provision for the children in accordance with this special lady’s vision and legacy.

The school has an enthusiastic and highly active PTFA (Parents, Teachers, Friends Association) who not only raise money to profit the learning experience of each child, but in doing so facilitates much enjoyment and engagement of the children in activities beyond the school experience. All members of the school community are invited and encouraged to be involved.

The children of course are the most important members of the school community, making it the place that it is. It is such an honour to take responsibility for their development in every area of their life, equipping them with the skills required for the next stage of their development. Ultimately of course, preparing them to be members of their wider community and society.

This responsibility is not taken lightly. It is a privilege for us to undertake this within the distinctive Christian nature of our Church School. Our Christian School values of Friendship, Forgiveness, Peace, Thankfulness and Trust are at the heart of everything we do, every day and in every way.

Our Christian School vision is based on Bible Stories referenced to the representations of sheep and shepherd. Every member of our school community is valued. Every one is equal and cared for in accordance to need, to ensure that everyone flourishes. Sometimes we are shepherds and we lead and care for others. Sometimes we are sheep, requiring guidance, care and celebration. We are all on a journey together. We are Learning to Live! Living to Learn!

I hope that you enjoy reading about our uniqueness. If beyond your visit or enquiry, you require further information, or have questions for us, then please do not hesitate to make contact with us.
